About Us

Mission

The Coalition for Healthy Virginia Communities (CHVC) (former Rural Virginia United Coalition-RVUC) is the umbrella organization created to unify and strengthen Prevention Alliances in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck region in their continuing efforts to prevent substance use (alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs), violence, school failure, juvenile delinquency, and teen pregnancy while promoting healthy and safe communities.

What We Offer

The CHVC, in partnership with the MPNN CSB Prevention Services Division, provides technical assistance as well as resources to representatives of schools, local government, faith-based and community groups, and grassroots organizations within this region.  The CHVC fosters collaboration between community groups through meetings, trainings, workshops, recognition awards, inter-county gatherings, and conferences.

Using Environmental Strategies, we aim to change the Social Norms associated with unhealthy behaviors.  Alcohol, tobacco, and other drug awareness projects are conducted to help promote healthy behaviors.
